Biography

Eugenie grew up in a musical family. Her mother sang and played guitar and her father was a real jazz fan.

From an early age she attended all jazz festivals with him and sang to music by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Pee Wee Hunt and Sarah Vaughn.

Later she met Miles Davis, Erikah Badu, Tania Maria, Toots Thielemans and many other top artists at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Eugenie was mainly inspired by powerful, idiosyncratic women such as Bette Midler, Madonna, Billy Holiday, Angie Stone, Erikah Badu, Tania Maria, Chaka Kahn and Tina Turner.

‘Soul’ in the broadest sense of the word is her priority.

She continues this in her own way in her texts, singing, compositions and performance. Eugenie: “Being able to perfectly imitate and sing, for example, Chaka Kahn or Billy Holiday is not that easy. Both require a combination of spicy singing technique, text interpretation and, above all, empathy. I wanted to get under their skin, as it were, and feel their emotions.”

After many years of experience at home and abroad in various music styles such as: Cuban, Soul, Jazz, Funk and Easy Listening, she has gathered her own musicians around her for several years. Eugenie is a born artist who plays, sings and performs with enormous dedication, dynamics and soul. Solo, trio or with guests.
